How do I become a member?

If you are interested in joining the club, you must first attend a meeting as a guest. You are welcome to visit several times if you like. Feel free to visit other clubs too, so that you can find the one that is best for you.

If you decide to join our club, at a meeting, just let any member know you would like to sign up. He or she will introduce you to an officer who can help. You will need to fill out a short application form with your name, address, phone number(s) and e-mail address. Have a check payable to "Star Search Toastmasters" for the appropriate amount listed in the table about membership fees on this page.
If you like, you can download the membership application in the "Downloads" section of this page, and fill it out ahead of time.

Membership in a Toastmasters club is not automatic; after your application is complete, the club will, at its next business meeting, vote on whether to accept your application. If your application is not accepted, your check will be returned.

When can I become a member?

You can submit a membership application at any meeting. You are welcome to attend as a guest for a few meetings to find out what Toastmasters is and if it is right for you.

All membership applications are approved by a vote of the membership in a closed session. This session occurs after the next meeting following the meeting when the application was submitted.

Once your application is approved, you will be notified via email or phone. You should plan to attend the next meeting to be formally inducted into the club.

While this process is primarily a formality, it is an important part of our club culture

What happens after I sign-up?

After your application is accepted, we will provide you with the Communication Manual to use until your new member packet arrives from Toastmasters International. We do this so you can begin receiving the benefits of the program immediately. Since your new member packet will come with another Communication manual, please return this copy to the club.

When you are ready to give your first "Icebreaker" speech, just add your name to the sign-up sheet for a speaking role in a future meeting (next week, next month, or whenever you are ready). We encourage you to also volunteer for other meeting roles, such as Jokemaster, Toastmaster, Master Evaluator, and others.

As you participate in the meetings and become familiar with how the Toastmasters program works, you will start seeing the benefits of the program both in yourself and other members.
